Beit Cure Hospital
August 15th Beit Cure Hospital is a moderately sized hospital (67 beds) that serves children for free and offers specialized adult services in orthopedics and ENT. It is much like the SJP II model where adult paid services help fund the free pediatric services. It is located in North Lusaka Busy physiotherapy department with 3 physiotherapists that our students may be able to go to in the future. They have several clinics they run including clubfoot, wheelchair and CP clinics. Mr. Ian making hand splints for a young girl. Also observed him casting a toddler for club feet. The Theatre
Friday, August 17th This morning was spent in the theater, otherwise known as the operating room. A few hours spent on a vehicular accident with multiple fractures. This was day two of fracture repair. Today was a splintered tibia and a compound ankle fracture involving a talar fractue. Very effective team effort and skills of two excellent surgeons: Professor Mulla and Dr. Patrick Kinda. Dinner out with Dr. Patrick at Zoran Cafe the Levy Mall.
