Beit Cure Hospital
August 15th Beit Cure Hospital is a moderately sized hospital (67 beds) that serves children for free and offers specialized adult services in orthopedics and ENT. It is much like the SJP II model where adult paid services help fund the free pediatric services. It is located in North Lusaka Busy physiotherapy department with 3 physiotherapists that our students may be able to go to in the future. They have several clinics they run including clubfoot, wheelchair and CP clinics. Mr. Ian making hand splints for a young girl. Also observed him casting a toddler for club feet. Fairview and Coptic Hospitals
August 10th Fairview Hospital is a privately owned smaller hospital which contrasts the public and non profit institutions. Our final stop was Coptic Hospital which is a member of CHAZ. It was newly constructed over the demolished building through donations of its sponsoring churches. It just opened in June of this year. It is approximately 150 beds including ICUs. Not all floors are completed but are in finishing touches. We met with Dr. Joseph Edward.
